Settled in the northern peninsula, 10 kilometers from Jaffna town and five minutes from the Palaly Airport, The Margosa is a charming 19th century colonial manor. Surrounded by well-tendered gardens, the villa features traditional architecture and contemporary living spaces.
The six rooms at Margosa are located around a central open sky courtyard that allows the interiors to remain airy and cool even on the hottest Jaffna days. The dining space is set at the side of the courtyard and is a lovely place to sit in the morning for a hearty Sri Lankan breakfast before a day of exploring. At night, you can sit on the veranda and enjoy delicious Jaffna curries by candlelight.
The rooms are spacious and decorated in vibrant colored bedspreads and furnishing. The five Standard Rooms have open sky bathrooms while the Deluxe Rooms has an ensuite bathroom.
All six rooms are air-conditioned and are furnished with a large double bed, vanity, writing table, cable TV, mini-fridge and tea/coffee making facilities. The rooms also have Wi-Fi facility.
TV with cable
Breakfast is either Western or Sri Lankan, prepared by the in-house chef. The Sri Lankan breakfast is particularly delicious as it gives you the opportunity to try some delectable Jaffna dishes which includes pittu, a type of ground rice that is served with curries. For lunch and dinner you can choose from a small Western menu or opt for traditional rice and curry, which is very good. Make sure to try a Jaffna prawn or crab curry and you won’t be disappointed!
Just for the kids
The hotel welcomes families and children of all ages. However, Jaffna as a location is more interesting for older children.
