Hotels in JaffnaBack
Jaffna, one of the northern-most towns in Sri Lanka, is also one of the most fascinating as it has a culture that is dramatically to the rest of the country. Influenced heavily by traditions from South India, the religion, language and food are all different and it is a fascinating area to explore. Still a relatively new addition to the tourist trail, Jaffna is a perfect choice for those seeking to discover an authentic Sri Lanka. Don’t miss out on the renowned Jaffna Crab Curry or seeing the Nallur Kovil brought alive at dusk with a pooja ceremony. Typical Jaffna scenes include people bicycling home with bananas and firewood on the back of their bicycles and majestic old houses adorned with carved roundels, grand porches and beautiful doors and windows.
Currently we only recommend one accommodation option, Margosa Villa, as there are not many hotels in Jaffna yet. However, tourism is rapidly increasing in this area and several hotels are being built to cater to this influx.
With six expansive bedrooms to choose from, Margosa Villa dates back to the 19th century when it was first a family house. Today, it features a host of amenities with vivid furnishings that give it a truly authentic personality. Children are welcome.
