Sitting pretty beside the sea in South coast Talpe just minutes from Galle, Victoria Villa is a five-bedroom family house with lush garden and pool. Designed by the Australian architect Bruce Fell-Smith – the visionary behind a number of luxury villas along this stretch of coastline – Victoria Villa’s a fusion of classic and contemporary designs that underwent an extensive renovation which has brought the villa firmly into the modern age. Calming color schemes, multiple lounging areas and comfortable soft furnishings all add up to present a villa that offers a blissfully serene setting to relax and unwind in. Stepping-stones across a lotus pond lead into the villa. Footsteps away lies an emerald lawn with sun loungers and hammocks, plus an idyllic pool and seaside pavilion. Walkways to either side of the living room lead to the villa’s five bedrooms – four doubles and one twin – a dining room, a well-equipped kitchen and an A/C TV Room furnished with a long sofa, flat screen satellite TV and DVD player, plus a selection of movies. Other facilities include free Wi-Fi, an iPod dock and a CD player. The internal room’s also furnished with a TV. Victoria Villa can only be booked in its entirety. The daily seaplane service from Koggala to Hatton is available for which we can make arrangements and books seats if you wish. Cost is available on request and conditions apply.
Bedrooms are decked with whitewashed antique four-poster beds, and come with private bathrooms complete with monsoon showers. The master bedroom is an expansive suite with a plump, built-in window seat. Its bathroom is a vision in itself, featuring sandstone and marble, a freestanding tub, along with twin washbasins as well as a monsoon shower.
TV with cable
The culinary staff of the villa have a long-standing repertoire with it, and are committed to their guests’ well-being. There are plenty of dining options between international and Sri Lankan cuisine, all prepared by a skilled and professional cook. You can choose to dine in a spot of your preference, such as the open plan living room, veranda or elevated garden pavilion. Though alcohol is not served at the villa, guests are free to bring their own. You could also purchase alcohol from local liquor stores. You can always head out for a drink too if you like, seeing as how Galle’s a thriving locale with a host of bars on offer.
Just for the kids
With its spacious garden and one-level layout, Victoria Villa’s very well suited to families. The pond’s the only obstacle for toddlers. Although the sea’s too rough for swimming outside the villa, there are a number of good swimming beaches within strolling distance. Kid’s facilities include a baby cot and high chair.
