Sprawled across the island’s Deep South bordering the buffer zone of Yala National Park – which boasts the highest density of Sri Lankan leopard in the world – Wild Coast Tented Lodge is the newest addition to Resplendent Ceylon’s collection of high-end hotels. Designed by a group of Dutch, English and Sri Lankan architects, the campsite is inspired by the natural colors and shapes found in the area.  

This Relais & Châteaux resort has 28 uniquely-designed tents scattered across the area with jungle views and some are situated close to watering holes often visited by wildlife. The restaurant, a highlight in terms of design, has a pool which winds its way through the dining area, bar and a small enclosed library which affords stunning views of the secluded beach stretch. Although accessible, the beach is too rough for swimming and guests need to be aware that there is the possibility of wild animals entering the resort on occasion as it is on the buffer zone of the park. The hotel has a list of  comprehensive safety guidelines in place which guests can request to ensure their safety as well as that of the animals. 

The tents at Wild Coast Tented Lodge are referred to as Cocoons and Urchins and are well-appointed with air-conditioning, Wi-Fi and minibar facilities.
