Surrounded by hills in the center of Sri Lanka, Kandy is renowned as the last capital of the Sinhalese Kingdom. Meet your local host by the Kandy Lake and take a stroll down along its side as he tells you stories about Sri Lanka’s last kingdom. From there make your way to the site of the Temple of the Tooth – the most sacred temple in the island – that holds Buddha’s tooth relic which was originally built between 1687 and 1707. Walk through the busy streets of the city and visit several local sites including a church and the clock tower that overlooks the town.
