Located at the very heart of Galle Fort, the Fort Printers is a beautifully restored boutique hotel with 13-bedrooms. Over the last two centuries, it has housed a school in the area as well as a local bank, while most recently it was the home of a traditional printing company, whose sparkling press still stands proudly in the hallway of the house. High ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows dominate the property whose clever mix of classic and modern furnishings create a simplistic but spacious feel.
The Grand Hallway, the Drawing Room and Library are huge, with cushioned sofas and seating alcoves placed atop marble-tiled floors. The Dining Room stretches the entire length of the house and features a formal dining table, some beautiful antique cabinets and a relaxed sitting area. A frangipani-shaded inner courtyard furnished with tables and shades is perfect for alfresco dining, enhanced by an azure lap pool.
The 13 bedrooms are scattered across three locations: Fort Printers mansion, Pedlar’s Street Wing and Church Street Wing.

Cuisine
The Fort Printers is well known for its excellent cuisine – the restaurant offers a new menu daily using predominantly seafood and local organic fruits and vegetables. A team of two dedicated chefs plan the menus based on guests’ desires. While breakfast is a varied selection, lunches are light and breezy, dinners are often more formal affairs. There are no set meal times or locations for dining – guests decide. The Printers also has a small but good selection of wines and spirits.
