Bay Villas is an intimate three-bedroom villa overlooking the ocean in Balapitiya on Sri Lanka’s south-west coastline, two hours from Bandaranaike International Airport and just one hour from historic Galle Fort, and close to two water-sports hotspots, Hikkaduwa and Bentota. The beach in front of the villa is not swimmable, but there are several bays close by which are in season between December and March. The villa itself is starkly modern on the outside, but inside is furnished with vibrant local art, soft fabrics and rich colours such as teal, burnt orange and crimson. There are three duplex rooms with comfortable seating and a dining area on the groundfloor and a spacious bedroom and ensuite bathroom on the groundfloor. Each room also has a veranda and balcony overlooking the ocean. There is a decent-sized pool in the back garden, and a small open-sided dining area where guests can relax with a cup of fresh Ceylon tea or ice-cold fresh juice. Bay Villas can be booked by the room or as a whole.

The three rooms at Bay Villas are all two-storey, with a living and dining space on the groundfloor and a large ensuite bedroom on the upper floor. There are two double rooms, furnished with a king-sized bed, and a twin room. The bedrooms will appeal to the artistic, decorated with local artwork and patterned colored fabrics, and the bathrooms have powerful rain showers. All rooms have a veranda and balcony where you can sit out and enjoy the sweeping ocean views.
