PALM’s unique design strikes you as soon as you enter: corrugated black steel pyramids (housing the rooms) are scattered throughout the garden; stilted steel and glass villas stare out across the fields, and the large reception area is reminiscent of a warehouse – but is decorated with eclectic seating, tables, plants and sculptures. Inspired by the industrial architecture of East London, this boutique hotel is perfectly juxtaposed against its rural setting – a patchwork of shimmering paddy fields, agricultural land and pockets of jungle. These idyllic surroundings bring a total sense of peace to everyone who stays here and will stimulate creatives hoping to paint, write, play or sketch during their trip. Yoga enthusiasts will be pleased to know that classes can be arranged on request, and there is plenty of space in the garden for self-led practice.
