Take a guided tour of the sacred Buddhist Temple of the Tooth, and wander among an astonishing array of exotic plants in the 19th-century Royal Botanical Gardens.

Your journey now brings you to Lunuganga Estate, Geoffrey Bawa’s exquisite country house and gardens. Including immaculate landscaped lawns, flower-filled ponds, tree-lined paths and unique sculptures, the garden is a wonderland with secrets revealed around every corner. The house itself has been beautifully maintained to reflect the era when Bawa called this home, updated with his pictures on the walls. However, it has all of the modern conveniences that you would expect. From Lunuganga, you are just a short drive from Brief Gardens which were the creation of Geoffrey’s older brother – the horticulturalist Bevis Bawa.

Wind out of the countryside and to the coast for three days of pure peace and relaxation. Your abode is a breath-taking beach villa adorned in rich colors named The Last House because it was Geoffrey Bawa’s final creation. The Last House is set on a private beach just moments from the long tropical bay in Tangalle that is said to be Sri Lanka’s most romantic location. Nearby Hiriketiya and Mirissa offer the chance for whale watching and water-sports in season.

The final stop of this specialist tour is Colombo, Sri Lanka’s commercial capital. Colombo conceals many of Bawa’s creations, including the ethereal floating temple on Beira Lake.
