Dambulla

Back Back

The fairly large town of Dambulla, 72 km from the hill capital of Kandy, is most known for the famed Dambulla cave temple which over the years, has become an image emblematic of Sri Lanka and the rich history it boasts. The town of Dambulla itself has little to offer, unless heavy traffic and wholesale markets are of particular interest as Dambulla serves as the central point for vegetable distribution for the island. A night or two in Dambulla is perfect for exploring the Cultural Triangle which includes Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa and Anuradhapura.
