Weligama

The roads leading into Weligama, edged by the sea, are lined by the famous Sri Lankan stilt fishermen, who sit perched above waves like curious-looking birds. Go on a fishing trip in a traditional catamaran with a local fisherman, or visit the stilt fishermen and see if you can balance above the ocean as they do. The abundant water-sports available should also be on your hit list – surfing is particularly good here.
