BackVilla Vista is a stunning contemporary villa built on a hillock overlooking the Weligama Bay in the south, surrounded by lush, tranquil wilderness. Designed by world-renowned Pritzker Architecture Prize-winner Shigeru Ban, a leading Japanese architect, the villa has striking modern design which emphasizes space and natural light. It is a multi-level, open-air structure composed of a series of platforms – accessed by stairs – designed to provide sensational vistas of the ocean, cliffs and jungles at every turn, using the intersecting floor, wall and ceiling panels to frame different views. The villa is a blend of traditional Sri Lankan architecture and modern style, built out of concrete, local teak and coconut leaves. The living area is open and faces the infinity pool, which has stunning views over the bay and distant hills. A private beach is just a five minute walk down the hill.

Cuisine
The villa has a staff of four, led by Siri, who will look after your every need – including meals. The in-house cook is versatile in making both Sri Lankan and Western dishes, so guests can speak to him in advance and decide what they would like to have each day. Villa Vista does not have a liquor license, but guests are welcome to bring their own alcohol or can ask the staff to buy it for them.
