Borderlands is a rustic campsite set on the edge of the Kelani River in Kitulgala, comprised of open-sided wooden huts which allow guests to lose themselves in nature. A stay at Borderlands will inevitably include high-energy river-based activities like white-water rafting, canyoning, abseiling and kayaking, all with high safety standards, led by well-trained guides. For those looking to stay dry, there is birdwatching and plenty of hikes in the surrounding jungle, although these are still likely to end with a river bath (if you so wish!). This is a great place for those who want to step out of their comfort zone and try out new adventures.
Borderlands offers accommodation in comfortable tents, cabins and chalets. The Long House, overlooking the river, is an amazingly chilled-out space with hammocks and bean bags where guests can relax with a chilled beer after a day of adventure. It also doubles up as a dining area where you can happily gobble down the delicious meals served up by the kitchen.
All rooms have mosquito nets to keep away the bugs. The chalets have attached bathrooms whilst the tents and cabins have shared bathrooms which are a short walk away from the rooms. Wi-Fi is available in The Long House.

Just for the kids
Borderlands welcomes children, although this is perhaps a location best suited for children over five years. Some of the activities offered may not be suitable for younger kids due to safety reasons.
