Sisindu C is one of Sri Lanka’s most idyllic and intimate beach houses. Perched beside a magnificent sandy stretch in Habaraduwa on the island’s palm-lined south coast, this two-bedroom villa is beautiful in its simplicity, consisting of little more than a spacious open-plan ground floor area with kitchen, lounge and deep veranda and two upstairs bedrooms. Sisindu C is let on a whole house basis. Although the villa generally sleeps four, the built-in sofas on the ground floor are large enough that extra adults can be accommodated. Sisindu C has panoramic ocean views and is decorated in a range of reflective sea greens and sky blues. On the threshold of the garden is a mesmerizing swimming pool flanked by loungers and plump, blue floor cushions. Between the pool and the beach is a lush green lawn which boasts a west-facing ambalama, a wonderful place to watch the sunset. The villa has a staff of three, including an experienced chef, and guests may cook for themselves in the modern kitchen if they wish. Particularly if you are travelling with small children, consider visiting the marine turtle hatchery next door.
