Stella Beach Villa, a modern yet homely four-bedroom house that sits on a spacious two-acre lawn looking out to sea, surrounded by hundreds of coconut palms and 400m of golden beach which sweeps around the bottom of the garden. The villa is located in a small coastal village on a picturesque and almost deserted beach stretch, whilst lively Mirissa Bay is just around the corner and Matara is a short drive away. The villa’s minimalistic whitewashed interiors provide a cool haven from the midday sun: relax on the shaded veranda or in the light, airy bedrooms. A dining bench and sun loungers are scattered around the front of the property and by the 20m swimming pool. Stella Beach Villa has four bedrooms, of which three are doubles and the fourth is a twin. White four-poster beds furnish the double rooms, dressed in fine cotton linen and draped with mosquito netting. Each room comes with A/C, a ceiling fan and an ensuite bathroom with shower. Stella Beach Villa is staffed with a manager, a housekeeper and a cook who can rustle up delicious Sri Lankan, seafood and certain international dishes on request.

Cuisine
The cook can prepare a number of local dishes, including delicious rice and curry spreads, plus a selection of international cuisine. He can also prepare fish, seafood and snacks according to your preferences. It is best if you inform the manager every morning of your meal requirements for the day – the staff will then go to the markets to pick the freshest produce available. The chef is happy to take guests to the market with him for an insight into local culture. Guests are charged for their meals at cost price, including transport. If guests are renting the villa in its entirety, they also have the option of self-catering in the villa’s equipped kitchen, but the cook is still happy to assist with shopping. Continental breakfasts are included in the nightly rate. The staff can prepare soft drinks and fruit juices whilst local beer and spirits can be bought locally. If you do have a preference for foreign liquor and wine however, it is best if you bring your own supplies.
Just for the kids
The villa is family-friendly. For older children, there are lots of activities to enjoy including body-boarding, learning to surf on Weligama beach, taking a boat from Unawatuna and snorkeling on the reefs off Rumassala.
